Egypt’s National Research Institute of Astronomy and Geophysics (NRIAG) announced that Friday, April 21, will be the first day of Eid al-Fitr, according to astronomical calculations.
NRIAG stated that the crescent of the month of Shawwal will begin to appear immediately after the conjunction occurs today, Thursday, at exactly 6:14 am Cairo time.
The statement added the new crescent moon remains in Islamic capitals and cities after sunset, on that day, for a period ranging between 10-35 minutes, commenting that the beginning of the month of Shawwal 1444 AH will be astronomically on Friday, April 21 the first day of Eid al-Fitr.
